Introduction

Kannada University is basically a research university.  The prominent objective of the university is to focus on study and teaching of Kannada language, state, history, archaeology, folklore, tribal, development, music, drama, culture and other subjects.  The study centre will frame necessary projects through the professor of different departments.

Every year, Adhyayananga of the university, conducts two projects that is personal through each professors and in association of respective department’s professors that comes under the limit of the university. The functions of the departments are executed by the Board of studies and Board of Examination. Senior professors of the respective departments will be the chairman of the Board of studies.  All the faculties will be its members.  As per the need of the departments, external scholars, field experts will be made the members of the Board of studies. The proposals of the research project approved by the Board of studies will get the authentic approval through the Adhyayananga by the department.  The completed projects are submitted to the Adhyayananga by the department through the recommendation of board of studies.

Eligibility for Admission

The Kannada University ever encourages the study related Karnataka state, culture, language, art, science, development, social and history. The admission for d.lit.course (graduation) will be provided by the university to those who have special knowledge on related particular field even if they have not holding formal educational degree.

The candidates has to give a precise information to the university about their contribution and knowledge in a specific field. During the submission of proposal. Official records and reports of their practical documents are necessary to know whether the candidates have achieved excellence in their and are eligible to undergo study independently.

The candidates who can fulfill satisfactorily the above necessities can get application of d.lit. during the month of June every year. Within two months have to submit the proposal of related subject to the directorate of study centre.

Students Centric   Methods

Ph.D., Course work has three papers. Of them two are common to all students and one paper is student specific. This paper has issues such as topic selection, consultation of existing body of knowledge, preparation of synopsis and preparing research design and other related issues. Students are free to choose topics of their choice for research.

Course Work

As per UGC norms, the course work will be conducted in four stages for the students selected for Ph.D. program. Course work is a training workshop for Ph.D students on Research method-methodology, enhancement of subject knowledge, involvement in Research field, construction of dissertation, writing, plan, installation, presentation etc.,  The final stage of course work will be conducted every year on January 04, the birth anniversary of Dr. Shamba Joshi which is considered as ‘Research day’.  This will be organized in collaboration with Dr. Shamba Joshi study foundation.  Then the oral and written examination of course work will be conducted and course work marks card will be issued to the passed students.

M.Phil Program:

Rules for M.Phil. Study

Student should have scored 55% marks in 2 years post graduation from any UGC recognized university. But Students of SC/ST and Group-1 Category should score 50% in post graduation will be eligible for study.

The lecturers who are appointed in government aided and post graduation degree college/university and lectures in permanent service who scored 50% in related subject in post graduation are eligible for M.Phil. Study. According to U.G.C. rules student has to be present compulsorily for one year to study classes conducted by university.

There is no necessity of entrance exam for students passing UGC/CSIR/NET/SLET/GATE/JRF/ or FIP/QIP entrance exam. There is an exemption for students who are selected under special grant plans and are working and also for government sponsored foreign students. Committee of department can refer (recommend) for registration after conducting oral exam and examining the results.

The students getting eligibility as per the rules of a and has to attend the entrance exam conducted by university for selection.

The candidates working in government offices or in any institutions have to compulsorily submit no objection certificate from the concerned institution.
