Introduction
Adhyayananga, Prasaranga and Adalithanga are the three major wings of Kannada University. The Publication Department of the University is called as Prasaranga. The Prasaranga of Kannada University is much different from the Prasarangas of other Universities. Established in 1992, the Prasaranga has published 1,412 books so far, belongs to various fields. The Prasaranga brings out 4 research journals and 1 periodical also.
Being a research oriented University all the faculty members of the university are undertaking different research projects. Most of those research projects and seminar papers of various departments are published in book form by Prasaranga. Apart from the research projects of faculty members the Prasaranga has published valuable writings of other eminent scholars also. Along with these scholarly and research oriented works some of the rare classical works were also published by Prasaranga. Through these publications the Prasaranga has successfully aimed it’s objectives of spreading the knowledge within the people. The publications of Prasaranga has not only fulfilled the curiosities of scholarly people but the common people also. Some serieses like Mantapamale, Nammavaru Male and Navasakshara Male are especially fulfilled the literary interests of common people.

Vijnana Sangati (Monthly). This is a science related magazine popular among the people. This introduces day to day activities and scientific developments. This is published, by keeping high school students in mind.

Marketing
The marketing strategy of  Prasaranga is also unique in compared to other universities. Besides participating in the usual Book Festivals. Prasaranga is also conducting sales tours called as ‘Pustaka Samskrithi Yatre’ (Tour of Book Culture). Through this unique programme the Prasaranga conducts tours all over Karnataka and exhibits its publications. This tour have been served the major aims of  Prasaranga. They are marketing the books and promoting the book culture among the people.
Prasaranga has two sales counters; one is in the University and another in Bangalore. Apart from supplying books to various Book sellers/shops on order, it has devised new ways of reaching the readers.
Authorised Central and State government institutions, Govt. aided institutions, Universities and Govt. Public Libraries can purchase the books on loan, but the bill amount should be cleared within that academic year.
Marketing Rules:
- Books once sold cannot be taken back or exchanged.
- Book sellers/readers should send the D. in favour of Finance Officer, Prasaranga, Kannada University, Hampi, Vidyaranya-583 276. Payable at Hosapete (Bank of India, Kamalapur or State Bank of India, Hosapete,) buyers should bare the conveyance charges.
- University will not be responsible for any damages of sold books.
- 35 percent rebate available on books and 30 percent rebate on Text books for authorized book sellers. They should submit demand letter to the Director of Prasaranga.
- 15 percent rebate available for School-College and Institutions.
- 25 percent rebate available for readers and 30percent rebate on Text Books for students.
Pustaka Samskruthi Yatre (Books Cultural Tour)
Prasaranga organizes ‘Pustaka Samskruthi Yaatre’ (Book-tour) to reach the readers. Books are carried in a bus to various places to reach prospective buyers. Prasaranga also puts up stalls in Book-fairs, Book-exhibitions or Seminars/conferences conducted outside the University in various places. Institutions such as Schools and Colleges can buy books for their library.
Often the seminars, conferences organized by various departments are organized in collaboration with other institutions and in places other than Hospet. This also helps the institution in disseminating knowledge. Most of the time Prasaranga puts up a book-exhibition at this venue to showcase its publications and also to make available the books to target readers.
