Introduction

The distinct aim of Kannada University is to create education. Kannada University is an integrate university that covers the jurisdiction of Karnataka. At the earliest days. No painting institution was under its scope a decade ago, the Karnataka government has entrusted the responsibility of academic progress and examination of nearly as art schools. University has formed certain progress plans keeping in view the academic progress and maintaining transparency in examination. Painting graduation has been started in diploma colleges. For the academic progress of the teacher’s opportunities is being provided to then to study post graduation. With the scrutiny of export committee, necessary advice and guidance is being provided to each art school. Based on new rules, examination procedure and other academic activities are followed. Various trainings, workshops, Visual arts and Sculptural practical cams for students and teachers of art schools is being arranged and special education campaign programmes for professors is being arranged.

Karnataka government has ordered for the inclusion of all the art colleges of Karnataka state to the scope of Kannada University and permitted for designing of the syllabus, follow the examination process and to proud certificates to the students (ED.08 KU: 2003: Date: 05.07.2003).

The Management centre of art colleges passes an ordinance by fixing the time table of each academic year. By this all the art colleges of the state begins the entrance process for visual art, Special expertise diploma and B.V.A classes.

Course  Offered

¨B. V.A. Foundation Classes :-

Foundation (Visual Arts) is a two year course applicable to those who have passed SSLC Examination. As per the university rules, PUC passed students will be eligible for admission of second year visual arts foundation course of one year. They get an exemption for language related subject examination. The marks secured for languages in second year PUC will be mentioned in the marks card of second year visual arts foundation course.

Bachelor of visual arts:  

This is a three year course for the students who have passed two years of visual arts foundation course. This includes

  1. B.V.A. Painting
  2. B.V.A. Applied art
  3. B.V.A. Sculpture

Students interested to get admission for B.V.A. Graduation classes may opt painting or sculpture or applied arts stream and will have the opportunity to complete three years graduation.

Students have to continue with the same subjects selected in the B.V.A. first year till its completion. There is no provision for the change of subject in between. The students will have an emption for languages during the admission of B.V.A. first year if they have studied languages in the completion of any degree. This rule is applicable to B.V.A. second year.

There is an opportunity to get an admission for B.V.A. final year even if they are failed in maximum four subjects in two years of B.V.A. degree.

B.V.A. final year examination results will be announced only if they have passed in all subjects of the previous two years.

Visual arts foundation classes:-

This is a two years course applicable to those who have passed S.S.L.C. Examination as per the rules of the university. The students who have passed second year P.U.C. are eligible for admission to second year visual arts foundation Bridge course of one year. They will be having exemption for language examination. The marks secured for languages in P.U.C. will be mentioned in the marks card of second year visual arts foundation course.

Special Expertise Diploma course:-

Special expertise diploma is a three year course applicable to those who have passed two years visual arts foundation course.

  1. Special expertise diploma painting.
  2. Special expertise diploma Applied arts.
  3. Special expertise diploma sculpture.

Students interested to get admission for special expertise diploma course may select Painting or Sculpture or Applied art stream and will have a provision for three years of study.

Subject selected in the first year of diploma course have to be continued till the completion of final year. There is no provision of change of subject in the middle.

There is a provision to get entrance to the year diploma classes even if they have failed in maximum four subjects of the two years diploma.

The results of fifth year of special expertise diploma will be announced only if they have cleared all subjects of previous years.

As per the rules of the university students who have passed special expertise diploma have the provision to get admission for one year bridge course B.V.A. final year. This is applies for higher studies only.
