The texts (both written and oral) are placed in the larger matrix of culture to research on various issues related to history, society, polity. The literary texts are read and interpreted in the light of recent theories so as to re-read them from the context of the present. The Department has so far organized several seminars and come out with publications on Cultural interface of old texts from the point of view of present context of globalization, nativism and other issues.[\/stm_title][vc_row_inner css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1552909188587{margin-bottom: 20px !important;}&#8221; el_id=&#8221;welcome-about&#8221;][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h6><strong>Features<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p>Distance Education Centre of Kannada University started functioning from 25.8.2001. The decision to this effect was taken as per the resolution taken at the then Executive Committee Meeting held on June 15<sup>th<\/sup> 2001 and the Administrative Board Meeting held on June 30<sup>th<\/sup> 2001. The 125<sup>th<\/sup> meeting of the Executive Committee of the Varsity held on August 7<sup>th<\/sup> 2010 has consented to upgrade the Distance Education Centre to Directorate of Distance of Education. This has been recognized by Distance Education Council, New Delhi, wide its order dated on 3.9.2007 and Provisional Recognition has also been given in this regard. Further, it has issued Continuation of Recognition orders in its letter dated 17.12.2009. UGC in its letter UGC\/DEB\/KU\/HAMPI\/KTK\/2014 Dt.28.05.2014 has given its approval to run distance education course for the year 2014-15. The Directorate of Distance Education is 15 KMs from Hosapete Taluk Centre. The Vidyaranya Campus has sprawling green cover and congenial atmosphere for academical activities. It has administrative wing, academic wing, spacious lecture halls, library and canteen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Special Features<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Free and open learning system is the special feature of the varsity. Distance Education facility of the varsity has offered plethora of employment opportunities to the candidates who have enrolled for various courses.
