Introduction

The Chair of Dalit’s studies has come into existence in Kannada University Last Decade. The Chair has been conceptualized as a rallying point, as well as, a source of inspiration for all other civil society organizations working on the related issues concerning SC/ST and other marginalized and socially excluded sections of the society and the rise of consciousness among Dalit’s on the question of their legitimate rights, the growing global attention on internal socio-politics on the other, call for a paradigmatic shift. Moreover, focus is given to the contemporary relevance of subaltern ideas on scientific temper, egalitarian society and rapid modernization of India.

Vision
  • To Incorporate Equality Perspective in Existing all Kannada Knowledge
  • To produce and disseminate Equality related knowledge in Kannada
  • To visualizes social change by creating a sense of pride and dignity in every citizen through inclusive means.

 

Mission
  • To Undertaking research studies to identify various forms and processes of Dalits Exclusion and to explore the possibilities for the creation of new avenues for Social Inclusion
  • To Organizing regular seminars, conferences and symposia on the theme of Dalit’s Thinkers, Thoughts and Social Exclusion
  • To Sensitizing the bureaucrats, elected representatives, trade unionists, media personnel and the General Public on Dalit exclusion with the view to evolving Social Inclusive policies for proper utilization of human resource potential for nation building
  • To Promoting Social Inclusion as a cross-cutting concern in all academic and development endeavours.
Uniqueness

All discipline faculty member can become director of Dalit Study Chair and every director developing Dalit’s thoughts from his/her discipline.

 

Major Programs

To realize the aforesaid objectives, the Chair of Dalit’s Studies is engaging itself in a series of activities which include conducting National Seminars, Lecture Series and preparing documentation on Dalit’s achievers.
